Output Devices of computer with example

Output Devices of Computer

Definition Of Output Devices:-

The hardware components used to display information to the user are called output devices. Most commonly used output devices are monitor printer and speaker.

Output Device:-

  • Monitor
  • HDMI
  • VGA
  • DVI

Monitor

Monitor is an Output Device that display video image and text. a monitor is made up of circuitry a screen a power supply and buttons to adjust screen settings and casing that holds all of  these components.

The first computer monitor were comprised of a CRT [Cathode Ray Tube] and a fluorescent screen. today all monitor are created using flat panel display technology,

HDMI

HDMI Stand for High Definition Multimedia Interface.
  • HDMI is a connector and cable capable of transmitting high quality and high bandwidth streams of audio and video between device.
  • HDMI technology is used with device such as an HD TV projector DVD player or blu-ray player.

 VGA

VGA Stand for Video Graphics Array
VGA is a popular display standard developed by IBM [International Business Machines ] and introduced in 1987. VGA provides 640*480 resolution color display screen with a refresh rate of 60 hz & 16 color displayed at time if the resolution is lowered to 320*200, 256 color are show. VGA Utilizes analog signal which means it is only capable of lower resolutions and lower quality display on screen.

DVI

DVI Stand for Digital Visual Interface
DVI is a video display interface. It was developed to be an industry standard for transmitting digital video content to display devices at resolution as high as 2560*1600 common Device that utilize the DVI connection are computer monitor and projector DVI can eeven be used with some tvs.

HDMI is more common as only some DVI cable can transmit audio signals. the transmit audio signals. the DVI connector of the three names depending on the signals it support DVI-A [ANALOG ONLY] DVI-D [DIGITAL ONLY] and DVI-I [BOTH DIGITAL and ANALOG].

TYPES OF MONITOR

Printer is an external hardware output Device that takes the electronic data stored on a computer and generates the hard copy.

Different Types of Computer

  • LED PRINTER
  • INKJET PRINTER
  • DOT MATRIX PRINTER
  • THERMAL PRINTER
  • DAISY WHEEL PRINTER
  • LASER PRINTER
  • ALL IN ONE PRINTER
  • 3D PRINTER

LED Printer

LED Stand for Light-Emitting Diode
LED printer were initially developed by Casio and function by focusing light across the entire length of the drum thus creating areas that are less charged which attracts toner. the printer then transfer the toner from the drum to the paper and applies intense heat to fuse the toner to the paper.

Inkjet Printer

The most popular printer for home computer user that print by spraying streams of quick drying and ink on paper. The ink is stored in disposable ink cartridges often a separate cartridge is used for each of the major color these colors are usually BLACK, RED MAGENTA, GREEN, CYAN, and YELLOW [CMYK].
Inkjet Printer themselves are often relatively inexpensive the ink cartridges used in the printer can increase the overall cost of the printer.

Dot Matrix Printer

Dot Matrix Printer were first introduced by IBM in 1957 however the first dot matrix impact printer was created by Centronics in 1970 dot matrix printer use print head to shoot ink or strike an ink ribbon to place hundreds to thousand of little dots to form text and image. Today dot matrix printer are utilize far less than they used to be due to their low quality image and slow print speed when compared to ink jet printer and laser printer however they still see a lot of use in certain sector such as auto part stores and package delivery companies.

Thermal Printer

A thermal Printer impact printer or electrode thermal printer is a printer that uses heated pins to burn image onto heat-sensitive paper. These printer are commonly used in calculators and fax machines and although they are inexpensive and print relatively fast they produce low resolution print.
The printer use thermal wax ribbon to melt color wax on paper for a photo print. it was invented by JACK KILBY.

Daisy Wheel Printer

A Daisy wheel printer invented in 1969 by DAVID S LEE At diablo data system. Daisy wheel printer were popular in the 1970 & 1980 but are no longer used because of they have a low quality of print are very slow loud & laser printers have come down in cost.

Laser Printer

The Laser Printer was first developed at Xerox PARC by GARY STARKWEATHER & released in 1971 that utilizes laser technology to print image on the paper. laser printer are often used for corporate school and other environments that require print jobs to be completed quickly & in large quantities the picture is a LEXMARK C782n laser printer and good example of a laser printer.

All in one Printer

All in one it is also called Multi functioning printer. it is used to describe a hardware device such as an all in one printer that printer fax and scanner all in one device.

3D Printer

3D Printer created by CHUK HULL IN 1984
3D Printer are used in many disciplines aerospace engineering dentistry archaeology biotechnology and information system are a few example of industries that utilize them . As an example a 3d printer might be use in the field of archaeology to physically reconstruct ancient artifacts that have been damaged over time.

Projector

A Projector is an output device that can take image generated by a computer or blu-ray player and reproduce them onto a screen well or other surface typically. the surface projected onto is  large flat and lightly color. projector is often about the size of a toaster and weighs only a few pounds.

The first carousel slide projector was patented on may 11 1965 by a man named david hansen. The digital projector we know today was created by Gene dolgoff in 1984 although he came up with the concept for it in 1968.

Uses
  • Project is a power point presentation at a business meeting
  • Transform a wall house or other object to give it a different appearance
  • project a computer screen to teach a class in school

Speaker

Computer speaker is a hardware device that connect is a computer to generate sound. When the speaker receives electrical input from a device it sends the current through the causing it to move back and forth. This motion then vibrates the outer cone, generating sound waves piked up by our ears.
