What is Computer

What is Computer?

What is Computer full name:-Common Operating Machine Purposely Used For Technology and Education Research.

What is Computer
Computer is an electronic Device used to solved different-different Problems according to set of instruction given to it.
  • A computer can accept data process data into useful information and store  for later use the word computer is derived from compute that mean to calculate.
  • Computer can be used as a calculating machine to produce result at a very high speed.
  • It can also be sued for other purposes used computer to solve different problem quickly and easily..!

Computer Inventor:-

was invented in the 19th century by a famous Mathematics Professor Named CHARLES BABBAGE. Therefore he is also called Father of Computer.!

Characteristics Of Computer:-

  • Speed
  • Reliability
  • Accuracy
  • Storage
  • Communication
  • Versatility

Generation of Computer:- [Different Generations of Computer]

1st Generation of Computer [1940-1956]:-  The beginning of commercial computer age is from UNIVAC It was developed by two scientists Eckert and Mauchly in 1947 The first generation computer were used during [1940-1956] They were based on vacuum tubes. Example of first generation computer are ENIVAC And UNIVAC..
UNIVAC:- UNIVERSAL NON INTEGRATED VACUUM ACTUATED AUTOMATIC COMPUTER

Advantage:-
  • Vacuum tube were only electronic component available during those days
  • These computer would calculate data in millisecond!
Disadvantage:-
  • This was very large in size
  • Very low speed
  • Limited Commercial Used.

2nd Generation of Computer[1957-1964]:-

The second generation computer used the Transistors. The scientist of Bell Laboratories developed transistors with vacuum tubes the Example of second generation computer are IBM1400 INM7094.

Advantage:-
  • Better portability
  • Accuracy Improve
  • Smaller in size as compared to first generation..!
Disadvantage:-
  • Air conditioning was required
  • Costly and not versatile
  • Punch cards were used for input

3rd Generations of Computers[1965-1974]:-

The third generation computer used the integrated circuits [ic] Jack Kilby developed the concepts of integrated circuits in 1958 it was an important invention in the computer field the first IC was invention and used in the Example of third generation computer are IBM370 UNIVAC1108.

Advantage:-

  • More reliable and use less energy
  • less expensive and better accuracy
  • These computer use mouse and keyboard for input
  • These computer could calculate data in nanoseconds.

Disadvantage:-

  • Air conditioning was required
  • Highly sophisticated technology was required for manufacturing of IC chip..!

4th Generation Of Computer[1975-2010]:-

4th Generation computers started with invention of microprocessor. Ted produced the first time microprocessor in 1971 for Intel. it was known Intel 4004 it greatly reduced the size. forth generation computer are Apple Macintosh and IBM PC.

  • Very small size
  • Totally general purpose
  • Less power consumption
  • Best speed i.e 1 Billion per second
  • No air conditioning is required.
Disadvantage:-
  • Latest technology is required for making microprocessor
  • Cooler is required (fan)
  • The very advanced technology was required to fabricate to the IC [INTEGRATED CIRCUITS]
  • The latest technology is required for the manufacturing of Microprocessor

5th Generation Of Computer:-

Scientists are now working on fifth generation computer using latest engineering it is based on the technique of artificial intelligence computer can understand spoken words and imitate human reasoning the ability to translate a foreign language is also possible with fifth generation of computer..
Advantage:-
  • These computer are much faster then other generation computer
  • Advancement in Parallel Processing.
  • Advancement in Superconductor technology
Disadvantage:-
  • They tend to be sophisticated and complex tools.
